Transadaptation of English and Ukrainian audiovisual texts for people with visual and hearing impairments

Abstract

The article looks at the problem of translation and adaptation of English and Ukrainian audiovisual texts as well as accessibility of information for people with visual and hearing impairments. The paper analyzes the vehicles for producing subtitles and rules of audio description, examines the problems associated with reading skills and text understanding by people with hearing impairment, studies translation transformations and strategies of translating audiovisual products for the above mentioned addressees.
