UKRAINE AS THE PERIPHERY OF WORLD-ECONOMY AND THE PROSPECTS OF ITS TRANSITION TO SEMI-PERIPHERY
Abstract
Through the prism of world-systems analysis, Ukraine was defined as the state of the modern capitalist world-economy periphery and two variants of its possible transition to the semi-periphery were identified. The first variant (the establishment of such trade relations with other states, due to which, for a considerable time, it will be possible to redistribute profits in favor of Ukraine) was identified as unlikely. The second variant (Ukraine as a state providing services in the security sector to the world-economy centre) has been identified as more likely.
