Principles of teaching material organization in American academic lecture
Abstract
The article analizes the principles of teaching material organization in American academic lecture. The source for research corpus is the УаІе University site which contains lecture transcripts of leading university professors. Taking into account the classification of disciplines in the University of УаІе into humanities, social, physical and biological, material analysis was formed of two courses of lectures within each of the mentioned group. The part of the lectures content coпesponding to teaching material in particular, to the general description of the teaching discipline, was taken for analysis. Systematization of content elements (topics) served the basis for the study oftheir variations. The quantitative and qualitative-quantitative analysis results demonstrate that the factors influencing the teaching material content organization are the position of а lecture within а course (introductoгy, cuпent) and the peculiarity of а teaching discipline/course of lectures.
