Abstract

Today the problem of teaching creative skills in the target language to students learning English for professional purposes is very important. The target goal of teaching and learning English is to develop the ability to use the language creatively and adequately in the process of communication. The system of teaching language university students adequate skills in productive communicative English should be based on principles underlying a communicative approach. It should also take into account the cultural context in which the teaching/learning process takes place. The author has analyzed theoretical material on the subject and the students’ comprehension in the context of oral speech. As a result we have developed a model and system of exercises for improving students’ creative speaking skills in the target language. The development of the system of exercises and didactic model for increasing, the quantity and quality of students’ creative skills have been highlighted.

One of the factors that significantly contributes the optimization of the process of developing the skills and abilities of a creative speech activity among the students of a language university is taken from the authoritarian model of teaching the language to the model oriented towards the interests and needs of the trainees. It requires the introduction of radical changes in the learning system. In order to achieve the goals, it is necessary to intensify the communicative activity of students, involving them in the process of verbal communication in the target language, promoting the creative use of accumulated linguistic and speech potential in the process of real communication. language university graduates should master the ability of using the foreign language in creative and effective ways in the process of communication at the international and intercultural levels, as close to the level of a linguistically educated native speaker as possible. In modern conditions the introduction of innovative ideas in the practice of teaching English is necessary to improve the efficiency of the process of training qualified specialists in teaching foreign languages.
