Aims and Scope

The aim of the Journal is to present new, original historical ideas that reflect scholars’ achievements across a broad spectrum of knowledge about the past – from ancient and medieval history and archaeology to modern and contemporary history, historiography, source studies, and auxiliary sciences of history. The scope of research encompasses both the history of Ukraine and that of other countries.

The Journal publishes studies by scholars from Ukraine and abroad. It features original articles that introduce new ideas and synthesize experiences in formulating and addressing contemporary problems in domestic and international research. In addition, the journal publishes materials containing critical reviews of accomplishments in historical scholarship, as well as reviews of scholarly and methodological publications in the field of historical disciplines.

The mission of the Journal is to promote the development of the widest range of contemporary research approaches in history and archaeology, to support their active application in practice, and to uphold high standards of university-level history teaching based on the achievements of modern historical knowledge. The journal seeks to foster a shared historical-critical field within the Ukrainian academic space and to present the results of domestic research to the international scholarly community.
