Copyright and Licensing Policy

Authors submitting materials for publication to "The Journal of V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University. Series History" agree to the following provisions:

  • Authors retain copyright to their publications and grant the Journal the right of first publication.
  • Submission of a manuscript and its acceptance for publication imply that the authors grant the Journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the material in both print and electronic formats, as well as to include it in international abstracting and indexing databases.

Authors may:

  • deposit the published version of the work in institutional or disciplinary repositories;
  • distribute it via personal or professional webpages;
  • use the material for educational or research purposes;

provided that:

  • the publication is not altered;
  • it is not used for commercial purposes;
  • full bibliographic reference to the publication in the Journal is provided.

Authors’ Responsibilities:

  • Authors guarantee that the submitted work is original and does not infringe upon the copyright or intellectual property rights of third parties.
  • Authors confirm that the work has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another Journal.
  • If the publication includes materials (e.g., figures, tables, data) owned by third parties, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions and properly acknowledging the sources.

Publisher’s Responsibilities:

  • The Journal ensures a transparent and ethical publication process, as well as open access to all materials in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).
  • The Journal guarantees long-term digital preservation of content through archiving in internal and external repositories.

The Journal upholds the principles of the free dissemination of scholarly information and the global exchange of knowledge for the advancement of society. In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative, open access implies free, immediate, permanent, full-text online access to materials published in peer-reviewed journals, available to any user within the global information network.

The Journal publishes articles under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), which permits copying, distribution, reproduction, adaptation, and further development of the author’s material, provided that proper attribution to the original work is given. Such use is allowed on the condition that the user credits the author (with reference to the official publication via the relevant DOI), provides a link to the license, and does not alter the article.
