Семантичний розвиток лексем σώφρων, σωφροσύνη і дериватів у давньогрецькій мові (від Гомера до Нового Завіту)

Анотація

У статті досліджено еволюцію семантики лексем σώφρων, σωφροσύνη і дериватів у давньогрецькій мові на матеріалі корпусу текстів давньогрецької мови TLG, проведено зіставний аналіз їх контекстуальних значень у Новому Завіті та творах класичної доби. Встановлено, що семантика σωφροσύνη розширилася від етимологічно вмотивованого значення «здоровий глузд» до значень «розсудливість», «поміркованість», «стриманість», «покірність», «контроль над насолодами і бажаннями» у класичну добу та «невинність», «незайманість», «цнотливість», «утримання від статевих стосунків» у християнську епоху.
