Additional sense nuances as a cognitive phenomenon
Abstract
The article introduces the analysis of additional sense nuances in a belles-lettres discourse. Cognitive approach is used to studying the phenomena of text-linguistics. Additional sense nuances are treated as a separate kind of implicit speech, which is determined by the author’s intention and is conceptual in its nature. Its decoding presupposes the anticipation of accumulated sense of other types of implicit speech in the discourse: non-allusive hints, allusions, and symbols. The study is conducted on the material of the text of C. Ahern’s novel. It is shown that the creation and decoding of implicit speech kinds mentioned correlates with cognitive operations. The decoding of additional speech nuances takes two stages and rests on cognitive operations, the basic of them being the operations of specificity and perspective.
