Peer Review Process

Cognition, communication, discourse” is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal.

The review process helps an editor in making decision on an article and also enables the author to improve the manuscript. Peer review process has the following stages:

1. By submitting an article for publication, the author thereby agrees to publish his / her full text on the journal’s official website and on the website of Vernadsky National Academic Library of Ukraine.

2. The executive secretary informs the author about the receipt of the article and the beginning of the review process.

3. The submitted papers will be sent to two reviewers who are experts in a related field of knowledge. If the results were negative by one reviewer and positive by the other one; then the editor may send the paper for third reviewer.

4. The reviewer receives only manuscript without any information that might uncover the identity of the author(s). Information removed prior to sending it to reviewers includes the author(s) name, address/affiliation, country, phone/fax and email.

5. The reviewers should rate the article being reviewed according to the following criteria: presentation, appropriateness, innovation, originality, quality, novelty, relevance, significance.

6. The editorial board is entitled to carry out scientific and literary editing of the materials on the author’s accord, or to send the article back to the author for further work.

7. The editorial board reserves the right to reject an article that does not meet the established requirements or the subject matter of the journal. In case of rejection of the article, the editorial board gives the author a reasoned conclusion.

8. The term of first round of reviewing the article does not exceed 2 months. The reviews contain substantiated assessments and grounded conclusions.

9. The executive secretary informs the authors of reviews and recommendations. The authors are to make necessary changes in their material in about three weeks’ time.

10. An article, which was not recommended for publication by both reviewers, is not accepted for reconsideration. The text of the negative review is sent to the author by e-mail.

11. After the editorial board takes a decision to publish the article, the executive secretary informs the author about it and specifies the terms of publication of the article on the website.

The editor-in-chief examines the reviewed materials, makes comments, and takes decisions on the publication. The editor-in-chief's decision is final.
