M. Khvylovy: klinamen in the text of the absurd

Abstract

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of M. Khvylovyi’s fiction as a space for absurdity functioning – a universal phenomenon that occurs in times of crisis of individual and social history. Actualized in the culture of the twentieth century klinamen model (J. Deleuze, A. Bergson, I. Prigogine) manifests itself as a marker of absurdity in the text of M. Khvylyovy. The ways and forms of the presence of the situation of klinamen in the writer's texts are structured into the main groups: klinamen is identical to the case (in the text: «miracle», «unexpectedly», «suddenly», «strange»); the point of meeting the individual project of the hero with nondeterministic circumstances; as the equivalent of creativity. The absurd functions in practice both as ambivalent artistic program, the aim of which is not only to demonstrate the catastrophic destruction of the world and the meaning, the tragic doom of human existence in the situation of feeling or experience of ontological meaning absence, and as a productive strategy aimed at seeking new forms of communication, transforming mechanism of transition into new areas of meaning formation and transmission.
