Open Data and FAIR Data Policy

Open Data and FAIR Data Policy

The journal supports the principles of Open Science. All empirical articles must include a Data Availability Statement (DAS) providing information on the accessibility of the research data.

Mandatory Requirements

Authors are required to:

  • Deposit research data in a trusted repository (institutional, national, or international).
  • Obtain a DOI or another persistent identifier for each dataset.
  • Indicate the DOI of the dataset(s) in the article metadata and in the text of the Data Availability Statement (DAS).
  • Ensure compliance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

Minimum Dataset Requirements

  • Empirical research articles — at least one dataset (research data).
  • Studies involving instruments or interventions — at least two datasets (data + instrument/code).
  • Methodological articles — at least one dataset (instrument/code/sample data).
  • Review articles — zero or one dataset (if structured samples/databases are used).

Restrictions on Data Sharing

If data cannot be made openly available due to ethical, legal, or security constraints, the Data Availability Statement (DAS) must:

  • provide a justified explanation for restricted access;
  • where possible, describe the conditions for controlled access.

This policy aims to enhance transparency, reproducibility, and long-term usability of research outputs in alignment with international Open Science standards.
