The Fictional Narrative Strategy and the Cognitive Semantics of a Word (on the verbal predicates казаться, показаться material)

Abstract

The article analyzes the correlation of the cognitive semantics of the words казаться, показаться with fictional narrative strategy, embodied in the context of a particular type. The cognitive semantics of words is identified within such parameters as ‘communicative register’, ‘fictional narrative strategy’.

The paper formulated gestalt scenario, according to which different contexts with the words казаться, показаться are built. The author demonstrates the gestalt’s integrity and also describes the focus of attention shifts which underlie the construction of different contexts –‘ background’ and ‘figure’.
