Development of sanatorium activity in Carpathian region

Abstract

The article deals with the detailed analysis of the development of sanatorium-resort activity in the Carpathian region. The author analyzes the resource base for development of balneology, mudtherapy, climatotherapy and recreation. The study identifies the main balneological groups on physical and chemical features of mineral waters of the region. As the most significant causes, the author highlightes the main recreational and medical resorts of the Carpathian region. The author does research of the main indicators of sanatorium activity in the Carpathian region, namely specialized places of accommodation, bed capacity, degrees of categorization and enterprises' amenities, price policy, tourist flow with the medical and recreational purposes, the amount of workers in sanatorium institutions and the income from their functioning. The study singles out the main problems and prospects of the development of sanatorium activity in the Carpathian region
