Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Font size 14 pt, 1,5 spacing; author's accents are provided in italic, not underlined (everywhere except URLs); all illustrations, graphs and tables are placed directly in the text, where they should be according to the content (not at the end of the document)
  • This submission has not been previously published and wasn’t submitted for review to the editors of other journals
  • The submission file is a Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect document
  • Internet links in the text are accompanied by full, correct URLs
  • The text meets the stylistic and bibliographic requirements provided in the Guidelines for Authors in the "About the Journal" section

RULES OF SUBMISSION OF PAPERS TO

THE «VISNYK OF V.N. KARAZIN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY»

 

«Visnyk of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University series «Geology. Geography. Ecology» accepts scientific articles up to 40 000 characters devoted to research in the fields of geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, geography, economic and social geography, ecology and related subjects. Papers can be submitted in Ukrainian or English. The article should have a written recommendation from a specialist in this field, who is not a member of the Editorial board of «Visnyk». The decision to publish is taken by the Editorial board of «Visnyk», with each article reviewed by two scientists from the editorial board.

The papers are submitted in printed or electronic form and sent to the e-mail address
geoeco-series@karazin.ua. The electronic version is issued in the format of Microsoft Word, font Times New Roman, size 14, line spacing of 1.5, all fields of 2 cm, indent for a paragraph – 0.75cm. Subheadings in the article are given in bold; italics are permitted only in exceptional cases. Illustrations, including graphics and charts should be placed directly in the text, and always provided in separate files. Wherever possible, it is better to use graphs rather than tables. Orientation of pages is that of book. Alignment should be made on the width of the page.

According to the requirements of State Examination Board of Ukraine original articles in professional journals should consist of the following sections:

  1. Problem definition and its connection with important scientific and practical tasks.
  2. Analysis of recent research and publications which discuss the problems, on which the author relies; pointing out unresolved part of the problem which the article concerns
  3. Highlighting previously unsolved parts of the general problem devoted to the article;
  4. Formulation of the purpose of the article (setting problem).
  5. The main material of the research and explanation of scientific results.
  6. Conclusions from the study and prospects for further exploration in this direction.

Articles must specify the UDC, title (up to 10 words), abstract (not fewer than 1800-2500 characters) and keywords (8-10) in Ukrainian.

On a separate sheet the information about the authors (surname, name and patronymic, name of organization, position, academic degree and title, address, phone, e-mail, ORCID) in Ukrainian and English is given. The number of authors should not exceed 3 (as exception – 5). References are given in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015. The list must include literature for the past five years, including that from abroad, and the list itself must contain not fewer than 20 references.

A detailed summary in English designed in accordance with international requirements for scientific publications is required. The summary must be:

– not fewer than 2500-3500 characters;

– Informative (not include general sentences);

– Original (not a copy of Ukrainian annotations);

– Meaningful (show the main content of the articles and the research results);

– Structured (availability of mandatory elements: purpose, methodology, results, scientific novelty, practical significance, keywords).);

The list of References is given after the summary – translated into English a list of sources used, which should be designed in accordance with the international standard APA (American Psychological Association). The lists of used literature in articles should include DOI of sources (if any).

Manuscripts that are not properly documented are not accepted for publication.

The editorial staff reserves the right to make an editorial correction of the manuscript.

In case of article processing by the authors, the date of receipt of the manuscript of the article in the editorial office is the date of its re-sending. If the manuscript is refused for publication, the article is not returned to the authors.

When confirming the positive decision to publish the article, the author must arrange and send his consent to its publication and publication of personal data.
