CLASSIFICATION OF FORMS AND UNDERSTANDING OF MADNESS: PLATO, FOUCAULT

Abstract

The article takes two examples of madness typification as a basis for consideration. Plato considers the types of madness in terms of its source, Foucault consider it by its mode of thinking. Both methods allow to trace the role of madness in a particular activity by using the inclusion (or exclusion) in the madness experience. For example, it becomes apparent close connection between madness and art, or rather, genius, creator, poet. On the other hand, through the understanding of the relation to the madness in such pair as «morality and madness», «language and madness», «interpretation and madness» and other we can trace of its transformation.
