Abstract

The IR-spectroscopy method was used to study a DNA interaction with Cd2+ ions in aqueous solution. While interacting with metal ions, DNA with the high concentration transits into the compact structure. Association constants are determined, cooperativity of the  Cd2+ ion binding is demonstrated, and nonmonotonous dependence of the binding degree (r) on the concentration of free metal ions (Cf) is ascertained. Binding isotherms are of the S-like binding to DNA molecules is highly cooperative.
