Abstract

Round table «Theoretical problems of study of transforming societies» was conducted on October, 18, 2013 within the framework of II Congress of the Sociological Association of Ukraine. The roundtable was held on the initiative of prominent Russian sociologist, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Vladimir Yadov. The round table was organized by the efforts of the Sociological Association of Ukraine and the Department of Sociology of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Members of the round table were represented by leading sociologists of Ukraine, Russia and other world countries. Such problems of development of post-Soviet societies as the encompassing role of the state, officials’ corruption, immaturity of civil society, differences in style of life practices as a product of the national mentality and others were discussed during the round table discussion.
