Peculiarities of post-soviet football hooliganism in the context of European football related practices

Abstract

The article is devoted to analysis of main European football fanaticism and football hooliganism examples. Football related practices which are inherent to football fans’ and hooligans’ subcultures are the main element of the analysis. The analysis highlighted main styles and sub-styles of football related practices. It was concluded that specific sub-style of the football related practices was formed on the post-Soviet area. Modern post-Soviet football fans and football hooligans reproduce set of football related practices which is based on the original Soviet tradition of collective practices and is a unique combination of different football related practices, their styles and sub-styles. This post-Soviet sub-style has a substantial impact not only on football fans’ and football hooligans’ subcultures, but on the society in general.
