Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript corresponds to the requirements for stylistics and bibliography, set out in the guide below.
  • The paper has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration in the editorial offices of other journals.
  • Manuscript files can be in the following formats: Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF or WordPerfect format.
  • Internet links in the manuscript should be accompanied by full correct URLs.
  • Manuscript text should be 1.5–spaced. Use a 14-point font. Author's accents should be italicized, not underlined. All illustrations, graphs and tables should be placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

General Provisions

The Editorial Board takes into consideration papers on a broad philosophical subjects: articles (including polemical ones), translations, archival sources, reviews, reviews of books and scientific periodicals, information on events in the field of theoretical and practical philosophy.

Papers should a) contain an unquestionable scientific novelty; b) take into account the leading contemporary publications on the relevant philosophical problems and the history of their consideration; c) correspond to the scientific priorities of the journal; d) mainly rely on the original texts of quoted sources.

The fact of submitting the manuscript to the "Philosophical Peripeteias" confirms that the author agrees with the editorial policy in our journal, the ethical principles of reviewing and editing manuscripts, the open access policy, the provisions on copyright and confidentiality.

The decision on the acception the paper for publication is carried out based on the results of a "double-blind" review.

Manuscripts can be any length. There are no restrictions on maximum word count, number of characters, or the amount of supporting information. But authors should take into account that the minimum number of characters of the manuscript cannot be less than 20 000 (with spaces).

Manuscripts can be sent either by e-mail to the e-mail box of the Executive Secretary holubenko@karazin.ua or through the journal's website.

Style and Format

Basic Requirements for Manuscript Text

  1. Font should be Times New Roman.
  2. Kegl (font size) should be 14 pt, 1.5-spacing. Do not format text in multiple columns.
  3. The fields should be symmetrical (2-2-2-2 cm).
  4. Manuscripts should be submitted without page numbering.
  5. In the in-text references between the letter "p." and the page number should be set "non-breaking space" (pressing the keys Ctrl + Shift + "space"). Same "non-breaking spaces" should be set between the authors' surnames and initials, between the last characters in the text and the first square bracket of the references, and also in all typical situations where the text break between the lines is unacceptable.
  6. Notes should be avoided, but if absolutely necessary, you can use page-based automatic footnotes (menu item in Microsoft Office Word - “footnotes”) with continuous numbering for all text.

Manuscript Structure

The UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index – without indentation, left alignment, in capital letters, low-fat font.

Name and surname of the author (authors) – right alignment, bold font.

Title of the manuscript – in capital letters, center alignment, bold font.

Abstract 

  • The Abstract should contain not less 1800 characters (with spaces), that is about 300 words. The font should be 12pt, 1.0-spacing.
  • Also you should add keywords (from 4 to 6 ones).
  • The Abstract should be structured in accordance with the manuscript text and should contain the following elements: the description of the research paper goal, the tasks of the paper, the theoretical basis, scientific novelty, results and their significance, conclusions. It's not necessary to write these words separately before each structure block!
  • In the Abstract it's not desirable to duplicate the text of the paper. The Abstract should not include manuscript title, citations, references and abbreviations.

Main text

  • The main text should be placed in one blank line after the Abstract. The main text also should be justified and the indent should be 1.25 cm.
  • The paper should contain the following structural elements: the problem statement, the relevance of the research, the goal and tasks of the research, the review of the published papers on this topic, conclusions, etc.
  • Words like 'goal', 'relevance', 'tasks', 'novelty', 'conclusions', etc. should be included in the text of the relevant structural elements of the manuscript. It's not necessary to write these words separately before each structure block! These words should be in italics.

Notes (if any) should be placed in one blank line after the main text. The notes should be drawn up in a list.

References should be placed in one blank line after the text or notes, if any. The word 'REFERENCES' should be capitalized (with no colon, center alignment, bold font).

Information about the author (authors)

  • Write author names in the following order: first name, last name (surname, family name), middle name (or initials, if used). Author names will be published exactly as they appear in the manuscript file. Please double-check the information carefully to make sure it is correct!
  • Each author must have an affiliation. The affiliation includes department, university, or organizational affiliation and its location, including city, state/province (if applicable), and country. Also authors should provide an address of their affiliation and their academic degree.
  • Authors have the option to include a current address in addition to the address of their affiliation at the time of the study. The current address should be clearly labeled like 'current address'. At a minimum, the address must include the author’s current institution, city, and country.
  • If an author has multiple affiliations, provide all affiliations.
  • Authors also should provide their ORCID iDs and E-mail addresses.

In-Text References

  • In-text references should be submitted in square brackets and contain the following elements: author's name, comma, space, year of publication, comma, space, "p.", space, page number (or range of numbers through dashes).
  • See the example: [Jones, 2018], [Jones, 2018, p. 10], [Jones, 2018, pp. 10-15]; references to a number of papers: [Peterson, 2018; Smith, 2014]; [Peterson, 2018, p. 18; Smith, 2014, p. 92].
  • If for one year there are several editions of one author, then in the reference list such sources should be arranged according to the alphabet. And in the in-text references after the year of publication should be put the corresponding letters of the Latin alphabet, starting with "a" (for example: 1990a, 1990b, 1990c, etc.).

  • In references to papers without the author (collections, encyclopedias, etc.), the first words of the title should be pointed instead of the author's  last name. If the phrase is too large or unacceptable for other reasons, then you can use the abbreviation, describing it in a note. Also, you can abbreviate such titles, putting after the last word three dots.

  • If the publication doesn't have an author, but the official page contains the compiler, the responsible editor, etc., they can be indicated in place of the author, resorting to the appropriate APA standards: (Comp.), (Ed.), etc.
  • In the presence of canonical editions of classical works with conventional pagination, it is better to refer to it, rather than to the pages.
  • You should also pay attention to the following things: when quoting, double translation should be avoided; it's desirable to refer to originals of quoted foreign sources or at least to compare the translations with these originals.

Reference List

References are listed at the end of the manuscript in the alphabet order, without numbering.

For each reference, you should set the 1.25 cm indent for all lines after the first.

Any and all available works can be cited in the reference list.

Acceptable sources include:

  • Published or accepted manuscripts.
  • Manuscripts on preprint servers, providing the manuscript has a citable DOI.
  • Various types of digital sources.
  • Various types of online sources, providing they have correct URLs.

Do not cite the following sources in the reference list:

  • Unavailable and unpublished work, including manuscripts that have been submitted but not yet accepted (e.g., 'unpublished work', 'data not shown'). Instead, include those data as supplementary material or deposit the data in a publicly available database.
  • Personal communications (these should be supported by a letter from the relevant authors but not included in the reference list).

"Philosophical Peripeteias" uses the APA (American Psychological Association) reference style.

The Journal provides publishing of articles for free (as well as access to issues of the Journal).

There are no any article processing charges or submission fees for articles in English or any other official language of the European Union.
