Complex assessment of water body environmental state (exemplified by Seversky Donets river basin)
Abstract
Results of complex studies on assessment of water bodies (during 200, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2010) within Seversky Donets river basin are summarized. Complex assessment of the environmental state is performed by using a set of parameters on abiotic (physical-chemical) and biotic (biological and eco-toxicological) components of river basin ecosystem. It is necessary to obtain complex information on the state of various inter-connected natural bodies (surface, ground waters, bottom sediments, soils) and impact factors; these data should be used for implementation of water-protective actions, aimed at elimination of negative impact on the environment.
