Dielectric permittivity of rabbit erythrocytes under type 2 diabetes and application of glucose-lowering agents at 9.2 ghz
Abstract
This paper covers the effect of different methods of pharmacological correction of the experimental type
2 diabetes on the dielectric characteristics of rabbit erythrocytes. In the experiments dexamethasone model
of diabetes was used. As samples packed rabbit erythrocytes of intact animals, packed rabbit erythrocytes
treated with water (placebo group), and packed rabbit erythrocytes treated with glucose-lowering agents –
metformin and the new experimental compound 1408 were used. Using the method of UHF dielectrometry
at the frequency of 9.2 GHz values of the real ε' and imaginary ε'' parts of the complex permittivity of
packed rabbit erythrocytes have been obtained. An increase in the average values of the dielectric loss ε'',
in the static dielectric permittivity εs of erythrocytes, as well as an increase in the dispersion of these
parameters in the group of rabbits with diabetes without correction compared with the controlled group.
When treated with the compound 1408 no reduction of the parameters was observed. When using metformin for the correction of diabetes the tendency to the decrease in average values of ε', ε'', and εs erythrocytes is observed, as well as in the dispersion of these parameters in comparison with the group of rabbits with diabetes without correction. Group of rabbits which received metformin only were not significantly different from the controlled group in the parameters ε'' and εs.
