Professional Blogosphere of YouTube Channels: Methods of Promotion, Visualization, and Rhetoric

Abstract

Blog as a phenomenon of Internet communications has been provoking debate among scientists in terms of ethics, genre, and stylistic diversity for several decades. Modern media have long been hosted on the YouTube platform and offer their own corporate blogs. Representatives of the business sphere are presenting themselves on the Internet, their motto «if you are not on the Internet, you are not in business either». Promotion of your services on the YouTube platform is one of the most effective forms to make a specialist recognizable and in demand, which actualizes special research in this area. The greatest interest among the audience is caused by educational channels for the study of languages, network technologies, the culture of public speaking, and psychology. Professionals who demonstrate their skills in these areas in the blogosphere have significant views, which automatically expands their client base. We examine successful professional channels on the following topics, namely: «Mikitko syn Alekseev» (linguistics), «Maxim Chernov» (methods of promoting content on social media), «Svoboda Rechi» (articulation and speech), «Radislav Gandapas» (public speaking), and «Evgeniya Streletskaya» (psychology). The aforementioned YouTube channels are examined from the standpoint of verbal self-identification (name (name or metaphor), target orientation (motto), headline tactics, graphs, etc.) and non-verbal (author’s photo, avatars, filming format, design, and graphics). Also, rhetorical techniques are considered, such as informativeness, the structure of the performance, special appeals to the viewer, and repetitions. As for the stylistics of speech, there is a combination of journalistic and colloquial styles, expressive techniques are added, and the presence of scientific terminology is noticeable. The use of the considered strategies contributes to the successful promotion of the specialist’s personal YouTube channel.
