Abstract

An analysis of the crystal structure of high-temperature superconductors of the YBa2Cu3O7–x type is provided and the reasons for the formation of specific chemical bonds between different ions leading to the formation of negative U-centers clusters in this compound is discussed. Experimental facts are also discussed, which indicate a close relationship between the crystal-chemical structure of metal-oxide compounds and their anomalous electric conductivity.
On the basis of the analysis, the conditions for the selection of elements for the synthesis of compounds characterized by a higher temperature of transition to the superconducting state are formulated.
