Space-time distribution of mass cases of dangerous and spontaneous of wet snow deposits on the territory of Ukraine during 1991-2020

Keywords: the territory of Ukraine, cases of wet snow sticking in the categories of DP (dangerous phenomena) and SHP (spontaneous phenomena), recurrence of cases of sticking wet snow in the category DP (dangerous phenomena) and SHP (spontaneous phenomena)

Abstract

The presented article is devoted to the study of the features of the spatio-temporal distribution of cases of mass deposits of wet snow of the category DP (dangerous phenomena) and SHP (spontaneous phenomena) on the territory of Ukraine during certain decades of the period 1991-2020. A case where such deposits were observed in 1 or several days in a row in at least 2 regions is considered a case of mass spreading of cases of wet snow deposits.

Materials and methods. The research used the materials of instrumental observations on the wires of a standard ice machine at all meteorological stations of Ukraine during the last thirty years. The distribution of such cases by individual months and years of the specified periods is shown, and their recurrence is determined. The main method of research was the empirical-statistical method and the method of constructing diagrams, as well as separate maps to represent the most outstanding cases.

The purpose of the article. Ways to solve the problem. The purpose of the article was to establish the spatial-territorial distribution of cases of mass deposits of wet snow in the territory of certain regions of Ukraine during certain decades of the period 1991-2020 and to establish the peculiarities of such distribution from decade to decade against the background of climate changes.

The main results of the study. It is shown that in the months of the cold period of the year, cases of mass spreading of wet snow deposits of the DP (dangerous phenomena) category in separate decades are more often observed on the territory of Zakarpattia, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Similar cases of deposits of the SHP (spontaneous phenomena) category are more often observed in Transcarpathia, Lviv Region, and Kharkiv Region.
