Storytelling in Modern Ukrainian Media
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of storytelling, a way of presenting information through telling stories. On the one hand, this phenomenon is not new. On the other hand, recently this technique of presentation of the material has become extremely popular in various professional circles. It is used by psychologists, coaches, educators, marketers, copywriters, writers, journalists and others. An increase in interest in storytelling is indicated by the output of numerous scientific studies and popular science texts. On professional platforms and online platforms, various master classes, trainings and courses on this topic are increasingly appearing; books are published. The development of technology makes adjustments to the work of journalists, makes you think about new ways to collect and present information, and, consequently, storytelling. Modern society is oversaturated with information, and therefore more demanding on its content and design. The success of a journalistic text, the number of its views and reposts depends on the skills to search for interesting characters and fascinatingly tell stories about them. In particular, digital storytelling is a story that is filled with modern visual means of expression. Illustrations, videos, music complement the text and help to tell the story, expand it, it is better to immerse the recipient in the described atmosphere. The purpose of the article is to comprehend the phenomenon at a theoretical level, to review the functioning of storytelling in modern Ukrainian media. The features of storytelling as a modern communication technology are considered. The article gives and differentiates the basic concepts related to the researched topic. Varieties of storytelling, their structure and creation techniques are considered. The digital storytelling in Ukrainian media is analyzed. The types of digital story, the algorithms for working with such materials are investigated.
