Abstract

This study confirmed that cancer significantly reduces the quality of life of patients and negatively influenced psycho-emotional and physical condition, the system of interpersonal relationships. The quality of life decreased at all stages of antitumor treatment, but the highest negative effect was found at retreatment period. The most affected area in cancer patients were physical and mental health. The physical illness also reduced independence in actions and self-care. Disease actualized feelings of incomplete personal and spiritual realization. Gender analysis revealed that women with cancer had lower rates of psychological well-being and men – interpersonal interaction, socio-emotional and social support. These data emphasize the extraordinary significance of correction of psycho-emotional and harmonizing interpersonal areas as important components of psychological help directed at improving the quality of life of cancer patients
