Importance Of Psychotherapy In The Treatment Of Post-Schizophrenic Depression

Abstract

Schizophrenia is one of the most common diseases in the world, it is believed that it is suffered by 1% of the population of the world at the same time, more than half of them are diagnosed with comorbid depression, anxiety disorders, depending on the disease. The author in the article examines a variety of views as for the use of psychotherapy in the treatment of both schizophrenia and post-schizophrenic depression; it focuses on the discussion of this issue in different historical periods. The current trends in a comprehensive approach to the treatment of this disease are outlined. The paper underscores the need to use different methods of pharmacotherapy and psychosocial treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation. The paper revealed some features of rehabilitation of persons suffering from schizophrenia and post-schizophrenic depression given the international experience. It was noted that thanks to development of a network of psychoneurological dispensaries now we have the opportunity of outpatient treatment of mental patients, reducing the time of hospital stay.
