Abstract

Еhe article spotlights the problem of tax debts in the Byzantium IV-IX centuries. The author was analyzed the difficulties has ever faced the Byzantine government in attempting to reduce the amount of tax payable. It is concluded that the problem of arrears is solved only partially to the XII century, with the development of the feudal system of immunities
