GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS APPLICATION IN PROBLEM-SOLVING OF SPATIAL PLANNING FOR WIND ENERGY

International experience of using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to determine the suitability of site for wind energy development was studied and summarized. Determined that the primary sources of information for such GIS are results of fieldwork, open spatial databases, databases of objects with known location and/or addresses, self-digitizing of existing raster maps and their specification by decoding satellite images. Overall, there were created 16 map layers that form the basis of the primary GIS database and contain information about the factors that influence the placement of wind farms in the Kharkiv region.
