Practices of Plagiarism Counteraction in Ukrainian Universities as a Part of Academic Integrity

Abstract

Taking into account the introduction of the notion of academic integrity into the legislative sphere (what is planned in the new law «On Education»), the article emphasizes the relevance of the study of existing practices of academic integrity promotion, in particular regarding the plagiarism prevention and counteraction, which are embodied in the universities of our country. The authors describe the notions of academic integrity and plagiarism. Based on the empirical research, the article analyzes the nature of the practices to combat plagiarism, which are most commonly used in domestic universities. It is concluded that there is the need in further research of academic integrity practices in the universities of Ukraine for an effective implementation of its principles into domestic educational space.
