Non-academic forms of advanced training in the formation of pedagogical competencies of higher education teachers (for example, journalistic education)
Abstract
The paper is devoted to the analysis of the forms and thematic areas of the formation of professional competencies of teachers of higher education through the use of non-academic forms of gaining experience in professionally oriented disciplines. Journalism is one of those pedagogical areas where professional growth does not always consist exclusively in the scientific and theoretical plane. We are referring to the fact that journalism as a profession requires not so much strong knowledge of the theory of information interaction with the audience, designed in the form of text (written, audio or video), but practical skills of interpersonal and social interaction, the ability to quickly respond to informational issues, form a professional media context for the recipient. Typically, these skills can only be obtained empirically. If we pay attention to journalism education, then we can talk about a certain justification for attracting journalists to the educational process. However, this is not always possible, except that professional journalists are often not optimal teachers. A compromise option for combining theoretical and practical experience on the example of journalism education is training seminars, which are held with the support of non-governmental organizations and Western partners in Ukraine by various public organizations or specialized agencies. Our task was to evaluate from our own experience the educational benefits of the trainings, highlight their varieties and thematic areas, and their relevance to the educational strategies of higher education.
