Mediareception of tourist activity in Ukraine
Abstract
The paper is devoted to the coverage of tourism activities in Ukraine in modern media. For an effective and most complete representation of tourist sites and tourism activities, it is important for media representatives to be able to allocate and distinguish between different types and kinds of tourism. Due to technological progress, open borders, the ability of modern tourists to use various gadgets and Internet resources that help in finding hotels, transport tickets and tourist locations, in creating tourist routes, modern types of tourism have changed and differ from the classical ones, which were in demand not too long ago. The paper analyzes vocabulary of professional terms and previous works of journalistic experts who related to tourism topics in the media and studied the journalistic reception of tourism in Ukraine. In the process of researching Internet resources, the main types and kinds of tourism covered by the media were identified and their main parameters were characterized: sports tourism, extreme tourism, military tourism, black tourism, rural green tourism and others. The general and distinctive features characterizing a particular type of tourism, the factors that distinguish the types and kinds of tourism in Ukraine from each other, and the main features inherent exclusively to each of these types of tourism and not inherent to others, have been identified. Depending on the type and kind of tourist attraction, tourists can visit it on their own, or as part of a tourist group formed by professionals in the field of tourism. Examples of tourist sites in Ukraine are proposed that correspond to each of the listed types of tourism and are actively covered in the media. The paper emphasizes the importance of recognition by journalists specializing in tourism topics and journalistic experts of various types of tourism in modern Ukraine – for accurate and reliable reflection of information about tourist sites in Ukraine. The proposed analysis was aimed at highlighting the main mediated types and kinds of tourism and updating the importance of understanding the general and distinctive features of various types and kinds of tourism for media professionals and researchers working with tourism topics.
