INFORMATION PROFILE OF MEDIUM AND SMALL ENTERPRISES IN UKRAINE AND EU: ANALYSIS OF METHODOLOGY AND INDICATORS

Abstract
The paper concerns the following issues: the analysis of reports and methodologies of business classifications by the size of Statistical Services of Ukraine and the EU; the comparative analysis of main SME indicators in Ukraine and the EU. Another purpose of the paper is to develop an information system project that will enable permanent monitoring, comparison and analysis of the official statistics data in the field of SME in Ukraine and the EU countries.
As a result of the conducted research, we have detected a difference between the definitions of business branches in the classification applied in the EU countries (NACE Rev. 2-2006) and in Ukraine (ДК 009:2010); this difference is insignificant, but it exists. The results of research of the business structure in Ukraine and the EU countries show that there are big differences both in density and in structure of Ukrainian and EU enterprises. At the same time, if both the enterprises and entrepreneurs in Ukraine are considered business units, we get commensurable data.
Concurrently, in 2014 the micro-business density in Ukraine was 4,1 % higher than that in the EU countries, the small business density was 2,2 times lower, the medium business density was 1,2 times lower and the large business density was 7,8 times lower comparing with the EU countries.
The paper also describes the project of the information system (with the database structure as well as pages structure layout), which will allow to permanently monitor the statistical indicators in Ukraine and the EU countries.
