Abstract

Ideas of an outstanding Soviet philosopher, the founder of the Kiev School of Humanist Dialectic Pavel Kopnin are considered in the context of contemporary methodological situation of Ukrainian Sociology. It is shown that the methodological situation in Global Sociology is characterized by the gap between the empirical and theoretical levels. Empirical studies have become self-sufficient, focusing not on Sociological Theory, but provisions of Theoretical Statistics mostly. This gave service nature to empirical sociological studies. Theoretical Sociology is being now developed without relying on the data received in empirical sociological research. Works of historians, government statistics and media represent the empirical research level in Sociology. In Ukrainian Sociology, these traits, inherent to the development of the Global Sociology, acquired hypertrophic forms. Due to this problem, Ukrainian sociological community failed to adequately respond to the challenges of social crisis and war in Donbass. Not only can Pavel Kopnin ideas contribute to developing dialectical nature of methodology of Ukrainian Sociology, but also allow restore the integrity of the movement of sociological knowledge when examining changing social life.
