Abstract

The article analyzes the state of contemporary Ukrainian sociology. It is emphasized that it is in a deep crisis. According to the author’s position, this is manifested in the reduction of its status as the university discipline, in the virtual detachment from the analysis of the most acute society problems and the ways to solve them, in the inability to explain why 25 years of Ukraine's independence is the path from the industrial level of the country's development to the agrarian one. It is stressed, that the reason of the deplorable state of Ukrainian sociology is in its ideological involvement, which blocks the systematic and objective consideration of society. As a consequence, the low essential of sociology and sociologists exists in the society.
