Innovative Universities: Criteria and Approaches

Abstract

The issues connected with approaches and criteria of universities’ innovativeness are considered in this paper.The criteria of Berton R. Clarck and Lisbon Council group are used, and show considerable divergences in the estimation of university innovativeness, its accordance to the necessity of time. The focus is made on the complexity of university’s passing through a borderline between formation and satisfying the requirements of the society and an individual. The author concludes that really innovative, experimental activity of a university includes great risks that can’t be avoided and should be taken into account. Moreover, not always, it is possible to use macroapproaches while estimating the innovative constituents of the activity of universities. The modern world of the university is so complicated and various, that it is really important to consider the experience of each particular university.
