Author Guidelines

To publish an article, you must:

  • fill in the information about the author of the article in the author (authors) questionnaire in accordance with Appendix 3). Authors must have a completed ORCID;
  • send an electronic version of the manuscript, the author (authors) questionnaire (Appendix 3) and a scanned signed author agreement (Appendix 4) to the e-mail: socioprostir@karazin.ua

 

Requirements for scientific articles submitted to the collection of scientific works “SOCIOPROSTIR: interdisciplinary electronic collection of scientific works in sociology and social work”

  1. The material of the article must not have been published previously and must not have been submitted for publication in another publication.
  2. Articles in the journal are published in Ukrainian and English.
  3. The scientific collection “SOCIOPROSTIR: interdisciplinary electronic collection of scientific papers in sociology and social work”
    accepts articles where the author or all co-authors have a scientific degree or higher education of at least the second master's level. The number of co-authors of the article should not exceed 3 people. At the end of the article, it is necessary to indicate the personal contribution of each co-author in the form of a list of achieved results and in printed sheets.
  4. The article should have the following structure:
  • UDC;
  • title of the article;
  • Full name of the author (co-authors);
  • scientific degree;
  • academic title;
  • name and address of the organization to which the author/authors are affiliated;
  • ORCID of the author (co-authors);
  • e-mail of the author (co-authors);
  • abstract and keywords;
  • text of the article with constituent elements (Appendix 1 of the Instructions for authors).
  1. The abstract and keywords (3-7 words) in two languages (Ukrainian and English) are placed at the beginning of the article (Appendix 2 of the Instructions for Authors). The volume of the abstract should be at least 1800 characters. The text of the abstract should be authentic, not duplicate the materials of the article, but state the results of the study. In the abstract in English, it is necessary to use the active, not the passive, state, i.e. “The study tested…”, but not “It was tested in this study…”. Recommended constructions: I/We study, I/We find, I/We evaluate, I/We examine, I/We construct, etc. Below the keywords, the JEL (JEL Classification Codes Guide) codes are placed (3-5 codes).
  2. All structural sections of the text should be highlighted in bold.
  3. The volume of the article should not exceed 80,000 characters. The minimum length of the article should be at least 15 pages (including annotations and references).
  4. Spacing – 1.5 (references – 1.0 spacing); font size – 14 pt. Abstract, keywords, references and references – font size – 12 pt. Margins – 2 cm on each side, paragraph indent – 1.25 cm. Font – Times New Roman. Microsoft Word only, preferably docx. All non-text objects should be constructed using Microsoft Word tools (Microsoft Excel Chart, Microsoft Equation). When constructing graphs, it should be borne in mind that the journal is black and white.
  5. Tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals and have a title. The title of the table should be duplicated in English (Appendix 2 Instructions for Authors). All Ukrainian text in the table should also be duplicated in English (Appendix 2). Multi-page tables in the text of the article should be avoided. If necessary, they can be placed in an appendix to the article. Tables are formatted according to the following rules: spacing – 1.0; font – 12 pt. If necessary, the font can be changed by the author to 8 pt. A reference to the source must be indicated under the table. Source:…..(according to the ARA standard). Only portrait-oriented tables are allowed.
  6. All Ukrainian text in the figure must be duplicated in English (Appendix 2). All illustrations must be numbered with Arabic numerals and have a title. The title of the illustration must be duplicated in English (Appendix 2 of the Instructions for Authors). A reference to the source must be indicated under the illustration. Source:…..(according to the ARA standard). Only portrait-oriented figures are allowed.
  7. The need for numbering formulas is determined by the author in accordance with the use of these formulas in the text (by references to them according to the ARA standard). Formulas that are numbered are placed on a separate line, the numbering is located on the right side.
  8. When referring to the name of a scientist or his work, as well as when using statistical data, a reference in the original language to the source in the list of references is mandatory. References to the sources of the materials used are drawn up in accordance with the rules for formatting text citations of the APA standard.
    In the case of using a direct quote of more than one sentence, the text of the quote must be placed in a pagination reference, and a reference to the source of the citation must be submitted both in the main text of the article and in the pagination reference (Appendix 2 of the Instructions for Authors).
  1. The list of references is compiled in the order of mention in the text and contains two blocks (this requirement also applies to English-language articles) (Appendix 2 of the Instructions for Authors):
  • References – sources in English, formatted according to the international bibliographic standard APA;
  • Literature. These are sources in the original language, formatted according to the National Standard of Ukraine DSTU 8302:2015.

The list of literature indicates only scientific publications, references to legislative acts, sources of statistical information, official websites of institutions, etc. are given in page references. When preparing the text of the article, you should familiarize yourself with the latest works of leading foreign scientists on the research topic (Appendix 2).

Quality requirements for the reference list: 

At least 80% of references in the article lists must contain DOI

Original research contains 20-40 bibliographical references

Review articles contain at least 100 bibliographical references

The number of references for the last 5 years is at least 50%

References to Scopus and WoS articles are more than 50%

Self-citations do not exceed 10-15%

 

Documents submitted by the author to the editorial board at sejournal@karazin.ua or on the journal website https://periodicals.karazin.ua/socioprostir :

  • article;
  • questionnaire of the author (authors);
  • author's agreement for the use of the work.

All files must be named in English, for example: Petrenko_Article.doc, Petrenko_Statement.doc, Petrenko_Profile.doc.

 

Sequence of placement of structural elements in a scientific article

INTRODUCTION: relevance of the issue; statement of the problem in general terms and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks; unresolved parts of the general problem to which this article is devoted; formulation of the purpose of the article, its tasks, subject and object of the study (at least 1 page).
LITERATURE REVIEW: critical analysis of recent research and publications on the problem under consideration (this part should contain not only a list of authors, but also the main conclusions of their works, their comparative analysis, not less than 1 page). The review part of the article should indicate the latest works of leading scientists (both foreign and domestic) on the research topic. Mentioning the name of a scientist without referring to a specific work is unacceptable.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: analysis of the main definitions of the study, methods and approaches used in the work. Articles containing the results of socio-economic empirical research should include information about the methodology and methods used in this separate section of the article. This information should include (name of the organization or individuals that conducted the research; research terms (for social surveys/polls) or time period of the analyzed data; data sources and empirical basis of the research; structure of the data range; description of data collection methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, observations, experiments, content analysis, etc.); description of data analysis methods (e.g., when estimating correlation coefficients - their statistical dependencies should be indicated; when using factor analysis - the percentage of explained variance should be provided); a brief summary of the positive and negative aspects of methodological experience: testing methodological tools, difficulties in implementing the concept of the original research, discovery of problems with methodological tools, unforeseen organizational and methodological situations (at least 0.5 pages). MAIN RESULTS: presentation of the main material of the research with justification of the obtained scientific results. It is desirable that this part contain sub-items in accordance with each main thesis of the research, such as: main assumptions, model, example for Ukraine, etc. Additional structuring the main results of the article (subheadings that correspond to the research objectives).
CONCLUSIONS: part of the article where the author(s) must present the results obtained, without new facts or data; indicate possible prospects for further research in this direction (at least 1 page).
REFERENCES: authors must adhere to scientific ethics in their articles in terms of references to colleagues' research: references to sources of statistical data are mandatory; references to textbooks, manuals, newspapers and non-scientific journals should preferably not be provided; references to their own publications are allowed only in case of extreme necessity and in an amount of no more than 2; works of authors whose names are referenced in the text must be included in the list of references to the article.

 

Materials prepared in violation of the above requirements will be rejected!

The names and email addresses provided by users of this journal's website will be used exclusively for the internal technical purposes of this journal; they will not be distributed or passed on to third parties.
