Motif Structure of HryhirTiutiunnyk’sNovelistics(to the 85th Birthday Anniversary)

Abstract

The article defines the main concepts of HryhirTiutiunnyk’snovelistics – love and pain. It focuses on analysing the originality of the artistic realization of the motifs of man’s loneliness, estrangement, social and existential insecurity, on revealing the peculiarities of the heroes’ world-view, the psychological depth of characters in the short stories Niura, Chevalier’s Death (SmertKavalera), Medal. The drama of the “little” man is considered as well as the loss of self-identity, moral deformation of the personality in difficult social circumstances. The image of the queer man in the short story Wild (Dykyi) is characterised.
