Improvement of the RDE stationary voltammetry method by consideration the electroactive components migration

Abstract

An extended analysis of the experimental data of stationary voltammetry on the rotating disk electrode has been performed and some kinetic parameters were calculated using the Gouy-Chapman-Stern-Grahame electrical double layer theory, the Frumkin slow discharge - ionization theory and theory of mass transfer with or without accounting of the electroactive component’s migration. It has been found that the constant systematic error arises as a result of application of the Levich’s convective diffusion theory to calculation of the kinetic parameters in the low ionic strength solutions.
