The effects of mechanical stretching in skin on the thermostability of collagen synthesized in it
Abstract
The effects of mechanical stretching on denaturation parameters, as well as the degree of proline hydroxylation, glycolysation of lysine and hydroxylysine residues of I collagen in rat's skin have been studied in vitro. It was found that collagen synthesized in the skin under the influence of mechanical stretching, produces less thermostable fibrils than that synthesized without it. This effect appeared to be a result of decreased intensity of two enzymatic reactions of collagen primary structure processing - proline hydroxylation and glycolysation of lysine and hydroxylysine residues.
