The article analyzes the problem of poetry’s silence in the face of a tragedy. The author analyzes the case of Italian poet Clemente Rebora, who survived the experience of war. Historical and philosophical analysis of Rebora’s heritage allows the author to trace the evolution of the poet’s views and the influence Dante exerted on them. The author demonstrates how reading “The Divine Comedy” allowed Rebora to overcome the silence and to rethink his traumatic experience. The article demonstrates that the innovative interpretation of poetry carried out by Rebora after returning to writing originates not in representation, but rather in an encouragement for action.
