Feeling of fear in the moral experience

Abstract

The article deals with the ethical aspects of the phenomenon of fear and its importance in the moral experience. The author considers that fear is the primary internal regulator of the behaviour. While the classical ethical theories attributed only negative significance to fear, the current approach does not exclude that it is the fear (for someone or something) which is the basis of duty and responsibility. In the system of ethical views the feeling of fear may be considered in opposition with licentiousness and with a sense of indifference.
