Social Anomie as a Factor of Society’s Criminalization

Abstract

The article deals with social anomie as a factor of criminalization of society. The particular relevance of the problem of anomie in the Ukrainian society undergoing transformation of economic and political systems is stressed. Changing social order, the depreciation of the previous norms of social life, the formation of new social norms and values create the foundation for the emergence of social anomie. The attention is focused on the fact that anomie in society is a consequence of the loss of its spiritual values. Social anomie is one of the main factors that activate criminal behavior. The results of a sociological survey conducted among the population of Odessa in July 2016, in particular information about what today Odessans fear and trust, are analysed.
