Leisure Practices of Kharkiv Region`s Rural Youth: the Conditionality of the Choice by Value Orientations

Abstract
Leisure practices of teenagers of the Kharkiv region, the practicices` structure; motivation and value determination of various kinds of leisure activities of adolescent youth are analyzed in the article. Developing the position according to which leisure practices are designed to meet the spiritual and social needs of a person, the author puts forward a hypothesis that the choice of a particular type of leisure, including a creative leisure, is influenced by the value orientations of the adolescent. The data of the factor analysis of the leisure time of the rural teenagers of the Kharkiv region is given, which makes possible to distinguish such groups of leisure practices as active recreational and entertainment leisure, passive recreation and entertainment, pragmatic leisure, cognitive leisure, tourism and gaming leisure, educational and communicative leisure, creative and aesthetic leisure, virtual leisure, sports and recreational leisure and escapist leisure. The correlation analysis helped to identify the factors of the choice of leisure practices, in particular, orientation on the values of social status, reference community, family, favorite business, communication, carefree life, freedom. On the basis of the obtained data, the author formulates a minimal basic model of values (7C), which play the most significant role in the choice of leisure for adolescents. The need for further studies of the selected problems is underlined, in particular, the study of the value of such types of creative recreational practices of adolescents, such as technical and artistic creativity.Downloads
