Retrospective analysis of city-forming functions of the city of Kharkov

Abstract

In this article the essence of functions of the big city and the main classifications of functional types of the cities is analysed. It is characterized the main historical stages of a development of the city of Kharkov, since its basis so far. The city-forming functions answering to each of historical stages of a development of the city are defined. It is revealed regularity of change of city-forming functions of the city of Kharkov depending on requirements of society and historical conditions. The direction of further development of functions of the city and the most developed function of the city of Kharkov in the modern historical period is defined.
