Abstract

Vascular inflammation plays a key role in atherogenesis. In this regard, in cardiology for clinical evaluation of patients are widely being used biomarkers reflecting inflammation in the organism, as their increasing is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease development. Determining of the level of one of these biomarkers — lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-FLA2) along with the already widely used C-reactive protein promises to significantly improve the detection of high-risk patients especially in acute coronary syndrome, as well as to assess the adequacy of therapeutic strategy.
