The aspects of roosting behaviour of Fieldfare have been reviewed. The distribution of 36 communal roosting sites in Kharkiv city has been described. 77.8% of communal roost sites are confined to floodplain terraces and 16,7% relate to ravines and gullies. Fieldfares prefer to sleep in willow bushes (Salix cinerea) and reeds (Phragmites australis) (55.6%), and in thickets of introduced trees (27.8%; Acer negundo, Robinia pseudoacacia, Elaeagnus angustifolia, Gleditsia triacanthos). Rarely Fildfares roost at branches of White willow (S. alba) (8.3%), hawthorn (Crataegus sp.) and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) (5.6%). 30 of 36 communal roosting sites of Fieldfare were at traditional roosting areas of Magpie (Pica pica). We have detected 21 bird species which join to Fieldfares’ roosts. The data of observations of birds’ roosting behaviour in breeding period have been presented.
