Some features of the «Sociology of the body» course preparation and teaching

Abstract

This article summarizes some of the results of developing and teaching the course «Sociology of the body» The attention is focused on content features of the course, in particular, its theoretical basis. Arguments in favor of the importance and relevance of selected issues in historical and sociological context are provided. Special attention is paid to the visual methodical techniques used in the framework of the course including demonstration of works of art that reveal the problem of a body in society, which can be interpreted in a system of symbols. the It is emphasized that the use of such methods enriches the content of the course, increases its efficiency and relevance in the context of educating future professional sociologists
