Kharkivasan Objectof Urban Studies: Contexts, Results, New Landmarks

Abstract

The article deals with the features of the modern historiography of the history of Kharkiv. The author examines discussion on the maintenance of the industrial character of the city, the choice of the strategy of economic development, the formation of the urban space, urban governance, historical memory and toponymy. The necessity to combineefforts of historians and representatives of other sciences,creationof an interdisciplinary field of research, drawing attention to the westernresearch approaches and comparative studies is grounded.
