Abstract

This text is based on experimental surveys conducted in fall of 2015 at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The aim of research is to analyze the role of ideological factors in formation of friendly relations during the period of significant social and political changes in Ukraine. Theoretical foundations of the research lie in symbolic interactionism and social exchange theory. Vignettes contained such characteristics as gender, age, region, language, attitude to Euromaidan, attitude to studies at the university, experience of help from the person and spending free time. Results show that attitude to Euromaidan is an important criterion for friendship. In addition, the study revealed a number of other important and non-ideological aspects of friendly relations.
